ABOUT
Chris Marshall is a multi-disciplinary musician, songwriter, and sound engineer based in Tāmaki Makaurau. After earning his Bachelor of Music (Majoring in Jazz Performance) in 2015, he started writing and performing with various established artists, including Miss June, Milly Tabak & The Miltones, Pocket Money, Balu Brigada, and Being. His musical ventures have taken him on extensive tours, both nationally and internationally, covering Australia, Europe, the UK, and the USA.
In the past five years, Chris has also immersed himself in the New Zealand theatre scene. He has contributed his musical expertise to numerous productions, showcasing his talent in both composition and sound operation. Some notable works include: 'Fleshies' (Basement Theatre 2019/2021); 'Heatwave' (Basement Theatre 2020); 'Slay The Dragon' (BATS Theatre 2021); 'Cake Baby' (Basement Theatre 2021); and 'The Judas Sheep' (Studio One Toi Tū 2019, Basement Theatre 2022). His recent project, 'We’ve Got So Much to Talk About,' has been a success, with performances at Basement Theatre 2022, Christchurch Art Gallery 2023, and BATS Theatre 2023.
Chris's impact on the music scene has also been recognized with nominations at the Aotearoa Music Awards, where Miss June, a band he collaborates with, was nominated for Best Group in 2020. His work with Miss June's 'Bad Luck Party' also earned them a nomination for the prestigious Taite Music Prize in 2020. Additionally, Chris played a pivotal role in the success of Milly Tabak & The Miltones, contributing to their Taite Best Independent Debut Award in 2018.
